Cernobbio, Lake Como

We suggest that all guests stay in the small lakeside village of Cernobbio, located fifteen minutes north of the city of Como on the western leg of the lake. Transportation for all wedding events will be departing from the docks at the center of town. If you choose not to stay in Cernobbio, please book all car services and water taxis prior to arrival as ubers and traditional taxis do not exist on the lake. We love the town and think you will too, it offers a stunning waterfront promenade, quaint restaurants and cafes as well as a ferry terminal. Cernobbio is a 45-minute drive from Milan Malpensa airport and is accessible by car service or rental car. To help understand the area, we have put together a helpful map with all hotels, venues and some of our favorite restaurants, cafes and activities.

  • Airbnbs

There are a variety of Airbnbs & VRBOs located in Cernobbio. These range from luxury villas to budget-friendly apartments. How to get there

  • Flights

The closest airport to the Lake Como area, with direct flights to-and-from the US, is Milan Malpensa (MXP), which is about 45 minutes from Cernobbio by car. It is worth noting that there are three airports in Milan: Maplensa (MXP), Linate (LIN) and Bergamo (BGY). We highly recommend flying into MXP if possible. It is the largest of the three and closest to the lake. It will also afford you the cheapest and easiest transportation options to and from the airport. The flight from New York to Milan is approximately 8 hours long and is flown direct by Delta, American, Emirates, ITA, United, Lufthansa & JetBlue. With Lake Como being close to the Swiss border, the Zurich airport is the next closest option, a scenic 2.5 hour drive through the Alps. We suggest arriving a few days prior to the events if possible to account for the jetlag associated with the six-hour time difference. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need assistance or advice when booking your flights!

  • Around the lake

We recommend scheduling a driver to-and-from the airport if arriving by plane. Here are two private car companies we would recommend: Lake Como Transfers and Taxi Como. If traveling before the wedding and arriving by train, the closet station is in the San Giovanni station in the city of Como, which is a taxi or car service away from Cernobbio. To note, ubers are not available in Lake Como and taxis are few and far between, so we suggest booking all transportation ahead of time. If you plan on renting a car at the Milan airport, it is an easy drive to Cernobbio, but please reserve parking with your hotel as public parking is not available in town. There are limited automatic cars available to rent in Milan, so book early if you are interested.

  • On the water

There is an extensive ferry system that operates on Lake Como, with stops all along the lake including the cities of Como, Bellagio & Varenna. Complete timetables for the public ferry system can be found here: https://www.navigazionelaghi.it/eng/c_illago.html. There is a stop right in Cernobbio, and we suggest taking the ferry at least once as the best way to see Lake Como is from the water. You can also book water taxis or rent small motorboats through https://www.taxiboatcernobbio.it/en/. They have docks in the center of the waterfront with easy access.
